On and around hae day :-) 2018 a group of HAE patients, relatives, caregivers, doctors, nurses, people from HAE organizations, and industry will walk four stages of the Jakobsweg through Vienna, Austria.
Jakobsweg is German for “The Way of St. James” – the pilgrimage route through the Austrian capital and connected to other pilgrimage routes leading to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain.
We know that many people would like to take part in this walk but are not able to do so. Therefore we arrange the HAE Global Walk 2018, allowing everyone to participate no matter where they are: From 1 April to 31 May 2018 we will be running a campaign in order to raise awareness of the rare disease HAE.
The HAE Global Walk was launched in 2016. From late April to end May 12,000,000+ steps were taken by individuals and groups wanting to be part of the global HAE awareness movement.
In 2017 the campaign ran from 1 April to end May and reached 2,120 people in 32 countries taking 21,000,000+ steps (that is 16,320 km or 10,141 miles).
Let’s see if the HAEi Global Walk 2018 can break records too. Remember: Every step counts.
