PRIMER TALLER REGIONAL DE AMÉRICA LATINA DE LA HAEI
La conferencia global HAEi siempre ha sido una oportunidad para que las personas con angioedema hereditario se conozcan, intercambien experiencias y aprendan. La necesidad de un viaje a otro continente y un idioma extranjero fueron barreras para que algunas personas en América Latina participaran en conferencias globales.
Hace unos años ya teníamos el sueño de organizar un encuentro regional, diseñado para latinoamericanos. La pandemia del coronavirus aplazó un poco el sueño y nos hizo adaptarlo. ¡Pero no nos rendimos!
Así que decidimos organizar la primera reunión de HAEi en Latinoamérica, ¡De manera virtual!
El mundo virtual nos ha traído algunos beneficios y oportunidades. Por ejemplo, las personas con restricciones de viaje ahora pueden acompañarnos y experimentar nuestra reunión regional sin salir de casa. El mundo virtual nos permite utilizar subtítulos, cruzando la barrera del idioma. Y con el alcance de las redes puede ser mucho mayor el número de participantes en una reunión virtual que en una reunión física cara a cara.
Es cierto que no hay ningún sustituto para las reuniones físicas y los abrazos. Pero al menos con la tecnología actual, podemos continuar realizando nuestro trabajo.
Por lo tanto, esperamos que las soluciones introducidas por la HAEi permitan a muchos nuevos pacientes, cuidadores y profesionales de la salud en la región aprender más sobre la enfermedad de los principales expertos y el equipo de HAEi. Y esperamos que este taller permita a muchos pacientes conocer a grupos latinoamericanos y familiarizarse con los proyectos y herramientas disponibles por la HAEi y sus organizaciones miembros.

A conferência global de HAEi sempre foi uma oportunidade para as pessoas com angioedema hereditário se conhecerem, trocarem experiência e aprenderem. A necessidade de uma viagem para outro continente e um idioma estrangeiro foram barreiras para algumas pessoas da América Latina participarem das conferências globais.
Há alguns anos já tínhamos o sonho de organizar uma reunião regional, desenhada para os latino-americanos. A pandemia do coronoavírus adiou um pouco a realização do sonho e nos fez adaptá-lo, mas não desistir!
Por isso decidimos organizar a primeira reunião de HAEi da América Latina, de forma virtual!
O mundo virtual nos traz alguns benefícios e oportunidades. Por exemplo, pessoas com restrição para viajar podem agora acompanhar e experienciar nosso encontro regional sem sair de casa. O mundo virtual nos permite usar legendas, transpondo a barreira do idioma. O alcance das redes pode ser muito maior do que o número de participantes em uma reunião presencial, física.
É verdade que não há absolutamente nenhum substituto para uma reunião física e para os abraços. Mas pelo menos com a tecnologia de hoje, somos capazes de continuar nosso trabalho.
Portanto, esperamos que as soluções introduzidas pelo HAEi permitam que muitos novos pacientes, cuidadores e profissionais de saúde da região aprendam mais sobre a doença com os principais especialistas e com a equipe de HAEi. Além disso, esperamos que este workshop permita que muitos pacientes conheçam os grupos da América Latina e se familiarizem com os projetos e ferramentas entregues pelo HAEi e suas organizações membros.

FIRST HAEI LATIN AMERICA REGIONAL WORKSHOP
The global HAEi conference has always been an opportunity for people with hereditary angioedema to meet, exchange experiences, and learn. The need for a trip to another continent and a foreign language were barriers for some people in Latin America to participate in global conferences.
A few years ago, we already had the dream of organizing a regional meeting designed for Latin Americans. The coronavirus pandemic postponed the dream a little and made us adapt it, but we didn’t give up!
So we decided to organize the first HAEi meeting in Latin America in a virtual way!
The virtual world brings us some benefits and opportunities. For example, people with travel restrictions can now join in and experience our regional meeting without leaving home. The virtual world allows us to use subtitles, crossing the language barrier. The reach of networks can be much greater than the number of participants in a face-to-face, physical meeting.
It is true that there is absolutely no substitute for physical meetings and hugs. But at least with today’s technology, we can continue our work.
Therefore, we hope that the solutions introduced by HAEi will allow many new patients, caregivers, and health professionals in the region to learn more about the disease from leading experts and the HAEi team. In addition, we hope that this workshop will enable many patients to get to know Latin American groups and become familiar with the projects and tools delivered by HAEi and its member organizations.
